I’d like to thank you for all of your help during the last two weeks. Thanksgiving was a HUGE success and all of our guests raved about the house. Even my brother-in-law who typically doesn’t show much interest in the home. There were a few very jealous wives by the time everyone departed for home Friday. The range worked flawlessly. At one point we had the turkey roasting in the right oven, ham in the left oven, Kalbie (Korean marinated beef) on the grill and griddle, and a big pot of Korean soup on the burner. We turned the dining room 90 degrees, added all the leaves and a second table on the end stretching the dinner table through the foyer to the living room. All of our planning during the building of the home worked perfect!! Choons nephew, who grew up in America, said this was “the best Thanksgiving EVER!” I hope you and your family had as wonderful of a holiday as we did. It will be remembered by all for a long time to come and plans are already being made for next year.

I would like to thank everyone at Barbera Homes for all of their efforts. Seven months ago we met Maureen Igelwski at Morgan’s Estates -we were not looking just being nosy & bored one day. Our first impression of Maureen was that she was extremely polite and professional, and that impression stayed with us through out the entire build. We felt like we were part of her family. And, she’s a Bonnie Girl-- I'll let her explain that one! I had two sons that go to St. Bonaventure University. Maureen was very responsive, and helped us in getting mortgage pre-approval. My wife and I met you and your team at the Barbera Homes office and were immediately at ease. I have been in sales for over 20 years. I can read folks fairly well. I score both of you a 10 –that’s hard to come by these days. I have watched my home go up since day one (we lived only 3 miles away at the time). Frank, I was very impressed with your sub contractors- I met them all. It’s hard to find contractors who care about what they do or build, and you have found them. Please thank them for their efforts. Greg, the new project manager is great. Hang on to this guy. He is very good with your sub contractors and very good at what he does. HE CARES! When I first met him, I felt he cared about me and my home and what he was building. As a home buyer it is very important to feel this way. As the building process was near completion, and we were under a tight deadline to close, I knew that the home was going to be done on time. Maureen was great, and Greg always put me at ease and would say “Mark, your home is in my hands-I will make it to the finish line.” I know there might be a few issues from time to time with a new house, but we truly know that Barbera Homes built our home with lots of pride. We stopped to look in Meadow Estates, thinking of purchasing the model home that was already built. The first person we met on your team was Kathleen Giles. I have to say Kathleen is one of the major reasons we kept coming back 'just to look'. Her friendly, knowledgeable and professional approach was exactly the type of person I knew we could work with. A true testimony of delight comes after living in the home that the Barbera Homes built for us three years ago. We are unequivocally delighted about our decision to build with BH, as much today as when we decided to invest in a partnership with BH in building our Clarion home. Several highlights of our experience validate such a strong recommendation:

1. Construction process: Not having built a new home before, one of the key values was establishing a firm business relationship with the builder, to ensure open communication, resolve issues, and understand the process. BH's "Meet the Builder Night" facilitated this. The BH team communicated the construction process and facilitated a mutual level set of expectations. At the conclusion of this evening we were informed, educated and confident in the level of professionalism and experience that BH would provide us. This was probably the most critical success factor in our delight. Another key factor in selecting a builder was having the opportunity to work with a partner and not simply a builder/vendor, relying upon a team of dedicated and skilled professionals to ensure our satisfaction.
2. Design flexibility: We fell in love with the model home at our first visit, but needed additional features to accommodate our lifestyle and future plans. BH was flexible in making minor changes, such as phone and cable lines to support our mobile work environment, and more significant changes like adding a bedroom and side load 3-car garage. Cosmetic changes were easily achieved with a wide variety of flooring, cabinetry, etc. BH had a many samples on site for us to select from, saving us time and enabling us to make decisions early in the building process.
3. Site Coordinator : Acted as our primary interface to the subcontractors and Barbera Homes. He addressed all of our questions during construction in a very responsive fashion. He demonstrated consistent professionalism, concern for customer satisfaction and technical knowledge of Barbera Homes's products. By having a site coordinator there every day during the building process, we were confident in the workmanship, and had a single point of contact for any and all matters.
4. Quality: The true quality of our home is evident after living in it for three years. We are very pleased with both the products and workmanship that went into our home. We have had no need to exercise any of warranties since inception.
5. Customer Service: Prior to our closing, we had a point-by-point inspection to identify any items that did not meet our satisfaction. These were immediately resolved. Furthermore, after living in the house for several weeks, Peppy was quick to address minor improvements that were required, a point highly commendable seeing that we had already closed on our home. The end-to-end customer service extended from our day-to-day interaction with Peppy, to simple things like the secretary knowing us on a first name basis, and the opportunity to develop a true partnership with the builder. Even to this day, we are treated as valued customers by everyone.

We are grateful for the long-term partnership, the commitment to topnotch workmanship, product quality and customer service that we received, and continue to benefit from as a homeowner of a BH product. In the past 5 years I have built two homes with the BH Group/Barbera Homes. This letter is to express my opinions and experiences with this exceptional builder.

First, the standard features offered are terrific, with various upgrades which allowed me to make my house into a home from the start. The selection process is enjoyable, even if not easy to choose. The BH staff is very friendly and helpful in choosing colors, patterns and materials to fit your needs.

The building process, for me, was quick. One day I'd see a foundation, suddenly there was framing, then walls, then a structure I could envision as a house. The Project Manager, Jerry LaBarr, is great to work with. He pays exceptional attention to detail, and makes sure every nail is in, every tile is even and every floor is level. He's also not shy about making judgment calls to make sure you'll enjoy your home. He is also very helpful with customizing your home to fit your needs. He was an outstanding person who doesn't just want to build you a house he wants to build you a home, which you can be proud of.

As with many large projects, such as constructing a home, issues arise. This is where Frank Barbera comes in. He's an incredibly reasonable guy which always came across that I, the customer, needed to be happy. Not just by his words, but his actions. If something needed to be made "right", he'd make it so. I honestly feel that he puts his customers first, which in his business is probably a rarity.

On the final walkthrough of the home there is a chance to catch the mainly minor issues which need to be resolved. In both my experiences, doing my walkthrough with Jerry present, he would be on the phone calling people over to fix things before we were even done. After this, it's waiting for the closing to get the keys to the new home.

After moving in, comes the "after care". At first, I expected to find issues, call BH, and wait, and wait. When I'd call I would speak to Heather, who was always a pleasure to speak with. She wouldn't just hear my issue and give me the phone number of a sub-contractor. Instead, she'd get that done herself. Someone would show up, at my convenience, to tighten this, or paint that. Even after the house settled, which is mainly when I would notice things, the after care team would come over and fix what needed to be fixed. I was always very happy with this, and really it easy to deal with things.

There are many builders in upstate NY, but when I chose to build a new home, I stuck with BH because of the good experience, craftsmanship and standard of quality put into my first one.

First off let me take this opportunity to thank you for making our house closing today a speedy and pleasant experience albeit for the little glitch in the escrow holdback by SEFCU. Building a new home can be both exciting and stressful and the relationship between the builder and the owner can make all the difference. The Barbera team made the experience for my wife and I far more enjoyable than stressful and were there every step of the way to address our needs and concerns. A special “Thank you” goes to Maryellen Blair for her untiring dedication to all aspects of the building process and timely responses to any concern that would arise.
